In an interview with Focardi, which was released in January shows an overview of how the physicists at the University of Bologna came to the realization of the E-Cat with Andrea Rossi.

“I realized, with the E-Cat, the cold nuclear fusion, clean, unlimited and cheap energy was true, and it would open up unprecedented scenarios.” Focardi added.

Look around in every direction; you will see that everything runs with energy. Whether it is the lamp on your bedside or a journey in an airplane, it is consumption of energy. We consume more and more, and we will run out of the resources eventually.

Now imagine a virtually unlimited energy source which is very cheap and is free from emissions. It could bring end of hunger and thirst on this heavenly planet. It could be end of war and end of all the suffering. Most probably, it will open up a range of scenarios which will make the whole history of humanity seem insignificant. This is not just an assumption but reality: this source actually exists and is called Nuclear Fusion. But unfortunately, this reaction, for us, is useless.

This reaction, which makes the stars glow, works on very high temperatures and is hard to reach. For nearly 20 years, our scientists have worked to replicate this reaction at low temperatures. It is an attempt to create a new reaction which is called Cold Fusion.

American, Russian and Japanese physicists have worked on cold fusion but it turned out to be useless. These experiments resulted in a lot of frustration and dispute. Until on 14th of January, 2010, a physicist from Bologna, Sergio Focardi, claimed that he has the solution.

The 78 year old man started his work two decades ago, in Mid-90s. He was accompanied by a colleague at the University of Siena, who came up with glycolipids. He claimed that he has observed anomalous energy production in that organic material. He submitted all his observation to Focardi and they started working together on this phenomenon.

They were not able to understand what’s happening in that reaction and where all that energy was coming from. They suspected the presence of nuclear interaction and called it cold fusion.

As time passed, Focardi fell ill and was no longer able to continue his work with Piantelli. It was then, when he was approached by an engineer from Milan, Andrea Rossi, who proposed a collaboration –which leads them to a decisive intention.

Andrea Rossi presented a nickel-hydrogen reactor and it was like a big care like box. With an ounce of nickel, a bit of water and 600 watts of electricity, this box was able to produce 12 thousand watts of energy.
This invention (that become the E-Cat) was certainly working, but it the inventors were not able to theoretically explain this experiment. The reactor has been planted; the invention will end soon in the markets and promises large amount of low cost energy.” Focardi said.

The bond between Nickel and Hydrogen is safe and there is nothing wrong with it. The exciting aspect of this reaction is that, at particular conditions, excited atoms of gas (hydrogen) start to hit the nuclei of nickel.

At this point, theory and experiment take two different paths. According to the laws of Physics, atoms of hydrogen and nickel are positively charged and they can’t interact with each other. But, on the other hand, Andrea Rossi and Focardi argue that things are different. According to them, Hydrogen atoms penetrate into the core of Nickel and this mixture automatically forms nuclear Copper which releases gamma radiations and considerable amount of energy.

“I do not know why this happens—the scientist smiles –that looks like the physics is explaining itself. This is evidence of the facts: either we are dealing with a nuclear reaction or we are violating the principle of energy conservation. Anyway, I would not mind violating it.”

“As far as I’m concerned, this kind of ostracism never scares me. The scientific community says that what we say is impossible because there are no theories that make this possible. But the real point is that you don’t know everything. Even the best physical condition of the world focused exclusively on individual aspects of physics. ” Focardi added while paying no head to the criticism.
