I encourage all the blog guests to mail recommendations and suggestions for topics to be highlighted.
I received yesterday a link submitted by a friend to another interview that engineer Andrea Rossi granted to the Città del Capo radio station about a couple of days ago. This radio is located in Bologna and has been covering the Energy catalyzer (E-Cat) since 14 January 2011.
This is the transcription of the audio file that is available on the site of the radio station.
We,Andrea rossi and Focardi, began the mass production just after we finished the last laboratory testings, of the E-Cat, at Bologna. The result is a system of 1 megawatt thermal power generation and will start its activity in October 2011, in Athens. The next step in this direction will be the display of an industrial plant of 1 MW, functional for a customer.
The model you presented in Bologna seems suited also for private use. How comes that you didn’t decide to go with a larger plant?
There are some problems with a larger facility, related to the authorization. The prototype displayed here in Bologna couldn’t possibly supply energy for industrial clients., because it is too small.
And because building a 1 MW plant consists in installing many 10 kw modules, it is quite simple to switch from a private use to an industrial use model.
The authorities allow us, for now, to build and operate an industrial facility rather than a residential system. Because an industrial plant is managed and directed by professionals, and the legal requirements are that the E-Cat plant should be supervised by experienced, competent professionals.
Instead, acquiring an authorization for a private use module is much longer and more difficult, because most of the customers are non-experts in the area.
A Swedish magazine published an article containing your answers to the readers, and we read that the E-Cat will also be available in Sweden, for Swedish entrepreneurs.
Yes, that is true.
We are asking ourselves why didn’t you decide to build it in Italy, Perhaps here in Bologna, where you already submitted your E-Cat invention.
There is a research and development contract we made with the University of Bologna, but here in Italy there is no foreclosure at all. I was born in Italy, so it’s obvious that I go there for precise interests.
Regarding the innovative nature of your prototype that you presented, there is one thing that bothers me. The media doesn’t cover enough this subject, even if it has been presented publicly. They just talk a little about it on line, but not too much. Using journalistic language, this present discussion is limited rather to a specialized target audience.
That’s true.
Do you have any idea why would this be? What do you think? Is it possible that the media considers you, I quote “a scam”? Could this be the reason why this topic is so little covered by the press?
No, I don’t think so. I believe this technology is very innovative and new and a purely theoretical experiment displayed in a University is just not enough. An industrial plant that actually works will catch media’s attention immediately. So now we are working towards the accomplishment of the industrial 1MW E-Cat plant.
The media said that your business model enables you to have a major control power over the system.
Are there risks associated with your technology? The press talks about radioactive risks from the nuclear fission central. These are probably related to the alarming news from Japan, and Germany. Moreover, except the oil shortage, the media started to speak about the seizure of “old style” nuclear power centrals.
She said pretty much the way your E-Cat system is because you can have more control. The risks associated with your technology? The news talks about the risks from central [nuclear fission, ed] classic alarming news coming from Japan, same in Germany (Merkel said “stop” on the two plants) … In short, besides leaving the oil began to speak also of producing nuclear power . Its a technology that could present problems?
The key thing is that we do not use radioactive materials, and we do not have as a result of our operation in radioactive waste from the reactor output. There are no emissions of any kind, and then by an environmental point of view this technology creates absolutely no problems.
Engineer, she feels a bit ‘of the twenty-first century Marconi at the moment?
No, look, at this moment I am only one who has been working like crazy – 16 hours a day – to arrive on time delivery at the E-Cat plant in Athens in October and this is the only thing that I feel. For me there are only and exclusively the result of the work, the rest are just …
What may be a future development – which sees her maybe in several years with the development of these technologies – the epochal changes in the production of energy?
It is a very difficult question to answer because if our E-Cat system works well in October the expansion possibilities are exponential. It is clear that if we are working with the commitment – in agony – with which we are working is because we realize that is something that could also be very useful.
